General Comments:
What happens when the family doesn't provide the best nurturing environment? What happens when the patterns learned in the family don't work very well in the rest of the world? What happens when anxiety or depression prevents you from moving forward in your life? What can be done?

A person often seeks psychotherapy when he/she is in deep emotional pain or going through a personal crisis. But someone may also come to therapy to change behavior patterns that are either self-destructive, or are simply preventing the attainment of goals. Perhaps you are having a hard time finding a life-companion or marriage partner. Or you may desire a better relationship with your partner/husband/wife. You may be worried about your children. You may be having difficulty being aggressive enough to achieve your career goals. You may even have been abused verbally, physically or sexually as a child.

My psychoanalytic approach seeks to untangle the causes of old behaviors, while supporting the growth of new, constructive behaviors. A safe and empathic atmosphere will help you as we explore together the past and the present in order to create a more productive and happier future. I believe each person can find more peace and fulfillment in his or her life.

I am an experienced psychoanalyst in practice in New York City for over 20 years.
