General Comments:
I obtained my PhD at the U of Illinois, Urbana in 1957. I worked at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA, from 1957-1993. I was Chief, Psychological Services 1966-1993 when I retired. My Medical Center is GM&S so I had extensive experience with psych components of physical illness. I have used hypnosis since 1970 both at VA and in my Private practice which I started part-time in 1970 and expanded when I retired from VA. I have worked extensively with PTSD in vets and other trauma victims. I use cog.-behavioral with Ericksonian hypnosis to assist clients to deal with a wide variety of problems. I view therapy as a creative, collaborative enterprise focused on helping the client tap into their inner resources to find comfort and ways to modify their dysfunctional thinking / behavior and to discover and implement enduring ways within their resources to feel better and function more effectively.
