Dear Colleagues,
It won't be long before college students return to campus and younger kids head back to school. Unfortunately, in the next school year many of these young people will engage in underage and excessive drinking that will place themselves and others at risk. The consequences of high-risk drinking can be significant: including unintentional death and injury, assault, unsafe sex, and alcohol-related health problems. A recent study supported by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), reveals that drinking by college students age 18-24 contributes to an estimated 1,400 student deaths, 500,000 injuries, and 70,000 cases of sexual assault or date rape each year.
