In the past fifteen years, my training has focused largely on: 1) individual relationship counseling and conjoint couples counseling, including issues of improved communication, fair fighting, unequal/inhibited sexual desire, abuse history affecting intimacy, alternative couples/issues and separation decisions; and 2) childhood history of abuse (intermittent/chronic/severe), and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, including single incidents to severe dissociative processes. Other focuses of my work include depression, eating disorders/bingeing, chronic illness (especially CFIDS and diabetes, Types 1 & 2), full spectrum dissociative disorders, problems with sex/sexuality and "growth work". I work with EMDR, sandtray, expressive arts and a focus on feelings. I start and end on time. You can be late or leave early, but my availability is restricted to that scheduled time. The hour is a 55-minute hour; paying, rescheduling and other details should be included in that framework. On occasion, longer sessions can be scheduled for EMDR or deeper work. 2. Sessions are paid for at the end of each therapy hour, unless otherwise arranged. Please make sure to leave enough time to write a check, if you haven't written in beforehand. 3. Please give 24 hours notice to cancel a session. Appointments and cancellations of appointments must be made BY PHONE and not by email. If you do not provide 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the session. Illness IS included under this 24 hour rule. 4. If you want a billing statement for insurance or tax pruposes, please request one the week before you would like to receive it. 5. I assign homework on a regular basis. Sometimes it is journal writing, sometimes reading or behavioral exercises/experiments. 6. If suicide is an issue, agreeing to do therapy with me includes agreeing to participate in creating a workable No Harm Contract. 7. Once we are into the established therapy process, if you want to end the therapy, you must first inform me of your wanting to do so. We will subsequently spend a minimum of one session on closure issues. 8. There should be no outstanding bill at the close of therapy. If there is a balance due, a late fee will be added to the total. If the bill is not paid within 30 days, interest will accrue on the balance at a rate not to exceed 15%. 9. It is my legal duty to safeguard your Protected Health Information (PHI). By law, I am required to insure that your PHI is kept private. The PHI constitutes information created or noted by me that can be used to identify you. It contains data about your condition, the services provided to you and payment for such health care. Under certain California and Federal laws, I may be required to disclose these records without your authorization. Fee Schedule: Sliding Scale Individuals: $90 - $130. Couples: $100 - $150.
