Description: | Haldol (haloperidol) is classified as a major tranquilizer. Haloperidol's chemical name is 4-(4-(p-chlorophenyl)-4-hydroxy- piperidino)-4'-fluorobutyrophenone. Haldol is manufactured as tablets with strengths of 1/2, 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 mg, as a liquid concentrate for oral administration, and as an injectable form. |

| Indications: | Haldol is indicated for treatment of psychotic disorders. It is also indicated for the control of tics and vocal utterances of Tourette's Disorder. Haldol is sometimes used in the treatment of severe behavior problems in children. It is also used in the short-term treatment of hyperactive children with excessive motor activity accompanying conduct disorders. When used in children with behavior problems or in children with hyperactivity and conduct disorders, it is used only after the child failed to respond to psychotherapy or medications other than antipsychotics.
