General Comments:
Across from Swedish Hospital, I offer individual and couples therapy for relationship issues, depression, anxiety/panic attacks, divorce, job stress/dissatisfaction, trauma/abuse, grief/loss,coping with serious illness, and a variety of other significant life concerns. I work on establishing a relationship with you that is confidential, safe, supportive, and non-judgmental. My approach is caring and tailored to you as an individual. I listen carefully, ask questions to further our mutual understanding of what you are experiencing, and offer feedback and observations.
My work is based on establishing a trusting and collaborative relationship with you. I attempt to understand deeply what you are experiencing and share this understanding in a way that is helpful to you. Therapy goals vary from person to person, and include alleviating suffering or symptoms, gaining additional insight or self understanding, resolving a short or long-term issue, personal growth/exploration, or just feeling better about who you are as a person. As a psychologist, I view it as my job to help you achieve your goals for the therapy process.
For individuals who have experienced trauma, I also offer Somatic Psychotherapy, based upon neurobiological and attachment theories, which can be helpful in processing the trauma and promoting the body's natural ability to heal. This method uses somatic inquiry, somatic empathy, somtatic observation, and principles such as oscillation to bring the body back into a normal or regulated state.
I work with a wide range of individuals including executives, artists, professionals, service workers, students, and others. I do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. By getting to know each person as an individual and customizing the approach, I believe the effectiveness of the therapy process is greatly improved. Selecting the right therapist is important so I welcome you to call me with questions or meet for an initial consultation.
I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and I am a licensed Psychologist. I bring a diversity of life experience to my therapy work as the mother of two grown children, a former executive in the high tech industry, an executive coach, and the former head of a non-profit vocational counseling agency. As a depth-oriented psychotherapist, I strive to help individuals develop lives that are meaningful and fulfilling. I offer day and evening hours. I accept most insurance and am a preferred provider for Premera, Uniform, First Choice, and others.
